WHEN CAN I SWAP FROM FORMULA TO 'NORMAL' MILK?

and how do I go about it?
DS is 1 year next week and has grabbed DD's bottle with normal milk on the odd occassion to have a play drink. Didn't seem to have any reactions to it as far as I can notice.

Can I swap him onto 'normal' milk completely? Would be a relieve especially money wise and he seems to like it...

I switched ds3 onto cow's milk about 2 or 3 weeks ago - he was 1 yesterday. No reactions, no fuss, no problems

finish last bit of formula and just swap it completely

hunkermunker · 30/08/2005 21:19

Yep. Go for it

Gem13 · 30/08/2005 21:19

The official line is 1 as a drink, 6 months in food.

Gobbledigook · 30/08/2005 21:19

I just gave him a bottle of cow's milk to see how he 'reacted' - he just drank it the same as formula so I didn't do any mixed bottles but I know some people do swap gradually by mixing the formula with cow's. If I were you I'd just give the normal milk a whirl first - he might just drink it straight away.

yup, finish what youve got then do it.12 months is the recommended age i believe.

Gobbledigook · 30/08/2005 21:20

Oh yes, used it in food and cereal from 5-6 months I think.

moondog · 30/08/2005 21:20

Hi MD - just had a family 'gathering' - it was lovely!

They don't know anything about it at 1 do they? We opened all his cards and pocketed his cheques - much fun!!

moondog · 30/08/2005 21:23

Oh yes! It's more of a party for the mothers than the babies I reckon. Ds won't be getting a present for years!

MrsBigD · 31/08/2005 07:17

sorry I didn't respond last night... I fell asleep!

Thanks for that. I'll use up the last of the formula then and off we go!

Dd has been on cow's milk since formula ran out when she was about 9 months - had been having it on cereal anyway since 6 months. Interestingly she has not been sick once since I made the change and she was always very sicky/refluxy when on formula.
