started weaning DD at 22 weeks for reasons i wont go into. She is now 6 months and in the space of 4 weeks has gone from purees to eating pieces of toast and slices of cheese with no great difficulty. I am still mashing most of her food to a certain extent (apart from the toast and cheese) but she seems to have no difficulty in eating more solid things.
I am worried though after reading some of the weaning threads and some babies seem to still be on purees at 8 and 9 months old, I fear that i am rushing DD even though she is managing fine.

Sounds like your DD is taking her weaning down the baby led weaning route. Smile

At 26 weeks we were trying out toast and cheese like you, as well as sticks of roasted veg etc. now at 10 months he is pretty much eating everything- (just no salt or too much sugar).

As long as you are still keeping up the milk feeds, everything should be fine. Don't worry about what the other babies are doing...still eating purees at 8/9 months could mean that they won't want to eat food with lumps in later on.
