my 6 month old is about to start weaning. I would like to get her to try to drink water or milk from something other than a bottle... what is your favorite cup? I have seen people recommend the tommy tippee...but which one??there are so many different models... by the way she is breast fed, and takes an expressed bottle with a newborn flow teat at the moment, if that matters....

Yes, Tommy Tippee free flow - here. Absolutely basic and does the job really well. Quite different to a boob or a bottle which IMO is a good thing, might as well differentiate from the get-go

tommee tippee first cup is the best and is cheap too. They cost less than the one in the link if you get them from the supermarket/chemist (under £2 usually)

Another vote for the Tommee Tippee first cup. It's the only one that DS would ever use - all those non-leak ones were just too hard!

They last a long time too as you can just take the lid off and use them as open beakers.

You might also want to try a Doidy cup. We gave one to DS at 6 months and he didn't really get it for ages, but it was a useful transition from the sippy cup to open beaker. And some babies do get to grips with them much earlier.

We used the Tommee Tippee first cup from 6 months, along with a Doidy. DS isn't very good with the sippy cup but will happily drink from the Doidy. (I hold it but he laps at the water).

The Doidy is also good for offering with solid food - if DS has a bit of food stuck in his mouth which he doesn't want to / can't swallow, it washes out into the cup when he has a drink.
