Morning ladies.
So I'm looking to start weaning my DS in the next couple of weeks once he's 6 months. I've left it til now as he's had a sensitive tummy since he arrived - colic, then silent reflux and struggles daily with pooing and farting. He's exclusively bf and I'm wondering what the effects of introducing purees might be - are his tummy troubles likely to get worse with bulkier stuff going in? Or might the weight of solids make things easier for him?
Anyone have any experiences they could share? x

If you're gentle with how you introduce the foods, you shouldn't find that they make him any worse. You may even find that the solids are easier for him to digest.
Begin with just fruit and veg, nothing citrus and nothing harsh. Banana, apple, potato, carrot, baby rice etc.
Introduce the foods in small quantities. He'll probably only eat a teaspoon or so at a time in the beginning.
Introduce new foods early in the day. The any reactions will become apparent during waking hours, not in the middle of the night.
Only introduce one new food every 3 days or so. Then you can identify which food has caused any problems that may occur.
He should start off on one meal a day. Two meals at about 7-8 months and three at about 9 months.
Take it easy and take your lead from your DS. If it's going well and he wants more, give it.
If he finds it hard or doesn't seem to like something, leave it for that meal.
Some foods can take as many as 10 introductions for a child to start to accept them.
Other things will be gulped down from the start.
My DCs loved yoghurt from the very beginning. You can give your DS soya yogurt if he has any problems with dairy.
Good luck!!
