weaning spoons - overeager baby!!

I started weaning DD at 24 weeks. Now 3 weeks on and she is eating very keenly and definitely eager to hold the spoon and feed herself!

That's great - except she always rams the spoon down her throat, gags, (sometimes vomits) and then cries!! {She never does that with long toys - so seems she's just overeager to get spoon/food in her mouth!}

If I don't let go of the spoon, she complains but I can't just keep letting go of it when this is what happens or she just won't keep any food down!!

Any tips? Saw this spoon on an American website... May seem a bit OTT but worth a try? Anyone know of something similar sold in the UK?

I think the gagging thing is part of the learning process. My DS used to do that but soon learned! If you let her play with a spoon with no food on so she gets the hang of it, that should help.

good idea... will try letting her play with it w/o food! let's hope she learns soon! :)
