Follow on formula in food for bf baby?

Do I need to use follow on formula to mix my 6mo old DS's solid food? He is breast fed but I've been using Aptamil first milk to mix his food since weaning him at 5 mo. I don't think I need to use follow on milk just because he's 6 months but thought I would ask for advice on here as not seeing my HV for a couple of weeks now

you can use cow's milk for cooking from 6 months , just not as a main drink until aruond 12 months.. or you acn express for cooking?

No, you don't need to change - the formulation is almost identical, it's just a marketing thing so that they can advertise it. In fact, you could use cow's milk for the food from six months if you want.

God, don't faff with that crap which is all a marketing ply. Regular milk fine.

Thanks all, I do express sometimes but use the formula when I've not got time/ can't be bothered Shock to express! I thought the cows milk for cooking thing meant proper cooking (i.e. heating it through as part of a sauce or something) not just mixing up baby rice with it, but I guess it doesn't make any difference. Moondog - I must be a marketeers dream!
