Hi i have been weaning my son for about a month and this is his current routine

7am Milk 8oz
9am Breakfast (1 weatabix made with 2oz milk)
12.30pm Milk 7oz
2.00pm Lunch (Homemade veggies - equivalent to a 1st stage jar full followed by friut or fromage frais)
4.30pm Tea (try finger foods like banana and homemade veggies)
6.30 - 7pm Milk 8oz

Do you think this is a good routine and right for his age? He loves his food but dont want to be doing it wrong! Any suggestions on how much or any ideas on what i could give him for tea is much appreciated.

Many thanks

It looks good to me! The only thing that I did differently, was to swap the lunch around so I did as follows:

10.30am finger food snack(e.g. rice cakes) + water
12pm lunch (followed by 2 hour sleep)
2.30pm milk (which by 10/11 months was replaced by a snack + water)

Also, remember that veggies don't have many calories (imagine if you were fed just fruit/veg, you would get hungry!). It may be a good idea to add carbohydrate and protein to your son's diet. The carbs will give energy, the protein will sustain hunger and is really important for brain growth and development.

If you are giving puree, you can add potato/sweet potato (as carb) and turkey or chicken (protein) to the veggies. They all belnd quite well and then you can introduce other meats/fish too. I found pasta makes a really good finger food, as do potato wedges and baby gnocci (waitrose do a great one). For protein, you could try strips of omlette, eggy bread, meatballs (pork, beef or lamb), cheese sticks (babybel are useful on the go too!)...

Have fun!

Yikes. My DS is 6 months next week and I gave him a spoonful of carrot puree yesterday and was planning to do the same today... I didn't realise they were suppose to be on three a day!
