Hi there,
My 24 week old ds is on week 4 of weaning is all going well and he seems to like everything I've given him so far (am following Annabel Karmel).

This is the first week that he's been on 3 meals per day, and I know he needs a minimum of 18/21oz per day but he's still on 4x9oz feeds (he's FF) so that's 36oz (some days he doesn't drain ALL his bottles but never really leaves more than 8oz a day max and today for eg, he's had the full 36)..... Am feeding him milk before breakfast and lunch and then around 2/3pm and at 6.30 after his bath..... Do I need to be reducing his milk or just wait till he's more imterested in food than milk... Or should I give him his solids first???

TIA

I would give him 3 meals a day and he will naturally reduce his feeds accordingly. I wouldn't worry too much about how much milk he is drinking as he will regulate it himself. If he doesn't drain all of his bottles then that is fine. As he starts to eat more food he will take in less milk.

P.S have you tried Baby Led Weaning- much better for your baby and so much less faff for you than AK.

Thanks, so it'll be a natural reduction that he'll pretty much do himself....... Sounds easy enough!
not finding AK much of a faff tbh and DS is enjoying everything I give him and I'm enjoying it too so going to stick with pureeing but have been giving some finger food as snacks anyway.....
FWIW not sure that BLW is actually proven as "better" for babies, it just suits some famlies better than AK, just as AK suit some famlies better....... Each to their own

Just let baby be your guide- most things to do with weaning are easy when you can just chill and let baby take the lead. I have found this which is why I believe, and many others, that BLW is better for baby as they are in control of what they put in their mouths and when and they don't have so many problems with lumpy foods/strong tasting foods and mealtime battles are reduced. I dislike Ak and all that she stands for but there are many ways to cook and egg as long as you and bubs are happy then good luck
