Can anyone talk me trough the differences between become a member directly through the site or via membership cards you can buy in some shops?(Sainsbury?)

member through the site you have to pay monthly by credit card but can stop anytime

there is no difference to the game or what your dc can do on the site though.

If you cease to be a member they can still retrieve the crap they have bought when and if they become a member again.

So no diff , just the way of paying.

gorionine · 08/03/2010 10:14

So does the mean that with the card after 3 months your membership stops on its own unlike with the credit card payment? Good, that is what I am after as I will forget to cancel the membership anfd Iam pretty sure DS2 will not remind me too

"If you cease to be a member they can still retrieve the crap they have bought when and if they become a member again."

Do you loose everything you baught if you decide to not invest in another membership card?

no it just goes in to storage until they become a member again - literally - cute penguin storage crates appear as I recall

coppertop · 08/03/2010 11:26

I bought the cards for a couple of months. I have another one to activate but haven't got round to it yet.

I've just had a look and when you go back to the igloo it's empty but there is a big cardboard box with all the stuff still in it. So basically you don't lose it but you can't actually use it until you renew the membership.

piratecat · 08/03/2010 11:28

You do have an option to use paypal instead, which stops after the term you have selected, and doesn't carry on till you remember to cancel. Not sure what the charge is with paypal tho. minimal is my guess, and it lets me control if i want dd to be on it.

club penguin, arghhhhhhhhhhhhh it's taken over our lives!

I pay through Paypal, monthly, and the kids have to earn their renewals. With Paypal, its not automatically renewed, unlike a credit card

gorionine · 08/03/2010 11:30

Thank you, I will have to explain that to DS then as he believes he will still be able to use everything even when not a member anymore.

Thank you everybody, most helpful as usual!

Go for monthly Paypal payments - then you have a powerful hold over the attitude, behaviour, manners, schoolwork and general demeanour of your Penguin lover!

piratecat · 08/03/2010 11:36

like seeker and mary, I def use it as a reward really.

brimfull · 08/03/2010 11:37

ds has ditched club penguin for bin weevils now

gorionine · 08/03/2010 11:41

I do not want to ge through monthly payments because we have done that with "moshimonsters" and it was hellish to get him to understand that we were stopping his membership. If he knows in advance that it is for one month it will be easier as it will stop without me being the "bad guy" for cancelling it.

I am not worried about his behaviour/schoolwork or anything (well not in relation with CP anyway) he wants a couple of membership cards for his birthday and now I know the facts I think he will get them, I just have to make sure with him he won't mind not being able to use the stuff he bought until we decide for a reason or another to get him another card.

you can also buy 100,000coins on ebay for a few quid, they can then buy so much crap they get bored of the whole thing

piratecat · 08/03/2010 14:49
