Just for fun: name the best things about your dcs and video games

Video games get a lot of bad press, and I thought it might be fun to name a few pluses [smile}

1. Little/no toys to tidy up, esp construction types

1. Good for hand-eye coordination

1. Children learn to read, esp little boys who have no interest otherwise in learning to do so.

1. Even the most fidgety children can concentrate for a long time. An ADHD friend of DS sits still for hours!

There are probably more........

Great for their creativity, am thinking Little Big Planet on PS3 where you can build your own levels, DS 6 loves it.

Thanks tellnoone about that. It seems no one else has anything good to say about video games!

I could also add that it helps problem solving...........

It leaves the lap top free for me when Ds is on the x box

here's one which a lot of mums seem to forget : their fun

Get Jelly Car for a small boy. You race a car (made of jelly) across a set of platforms (also made of jelly).

Best bit is that some of the levels are literally 30-90 seconds long. Perfect for letting him have '1 more go' while I find my shoes.

Much as I like the idea of pluses I don't understand why gaming gets such a bad rep with people, you don't expect bad and good points about watching TV, movies, listening to music etc, so whats the difference.
