Hi I've finally invested in a Wii for Xmas - comes with console, Wii sports, one controller. Is there anything else that I need to get? I've heard about nunchucks?! Or will we be okay initially with what it comes with.

Can anyone recommend any good games for 7 year old DS (and me!)

I would invest in another controller at least to swap the pita swapping about when playing

my 6yr old DD loves the winter olympics game and the Super Mario stuff - not exactly high brow stuff but who cares

We are getting one too!

Apparently, you need an extra handset thingy. A friend said that the best way to get that is to buy Wii Play as it is a game but comes with its own handset.

I'm not sure about the nunchuck thing.

Bil has bought the boys Mario Kart with a steering wheel.

DS1 is 7 and has played Mario Galaxy at a friends and really enjoyed it.

I'm so excited - I think its more for me!!! Been promising DS one for the last 18 mths as all his friends has one, but told him we had to wait till the prices went down - and they have!!!! Can't wait!

go into Game and see what games you can get second hand too - there are those (certainly not us) who play the game till they finish it an trade it in almost as new

we buy any accessories from ASDA because they're cheaper or Tesco for the points (eases the guilt slightly )

mario kart a hit here too

the nunchuck thing is used in some of them as an attachment to the controller but I don't think its utterly necessary to have it

If archives is working, do a search on wii. There have been lots of threads on this recently so you can also find good info there.

In fact, there was a thread yesterday where everyone was saying to OP (who had the same question as you) to get a battery pack/recharger to avoid going broke on batteries.....

To echo what is on here. Would recommend that you buy:

Wii Play (you get some more mini games and an extra remote )
1 x extra Nunchuck (so you can beat your DS senseless in boxing )
Mario Kart Wii (complete with wheel)
1 x extra wheel so you both have one.

Also get the official Nintendo Component Cable. This will give you a better picture. But your TV needs to have Component input. Check the back of the telly. If you have a row of 5 coloured sockets then you are OK.

Shop around online for everything. You'll pay through the nose in the high st.
