Nintendo switch-to buy or not to buy?

A very last minute Christmas query.

Debating buying a NS 2 for DD, nearly 9 and DS, nearly 6.
They have played at friends house occasionally and enjoyed.
I was hoping it might change the dynamics of how they play (they will need each other as opposed to the endless arguing we have at the minute).
Colleague says don’t waste money and put games on tablets instead. Another friend thinks it’s mad that DC have got to this age without one.
Any opinions very much appreciated.

We got one for kids of similar ages and they have no interest in it. But our friends kids love theirs. So it depends on the child I think. Ours prefer their tablets.

My 4 & 7yo play together on ours. I think the games are much better than tablet games. Mario Odyssey is a particular good one for co-op.

If they are going to play games, it's far better they play real console games Vs tablet games.

Tablet games are often stuffed full of adverts and predatory game design that demands you hand over real money for progress. They are less fun to play and use a lot of dark patterns to keep people engaged rather than just being fun.

Console games tend to be way less predatory. Most Nintendo games are just built to be fun to play and rarely have microtransactions.

The Switches gets a lot of use in our house. It’s great for kids to play together, far superior to tablets. There’s loads of good co-op games as well as fun family games.
