Can anyone help me with this ancient Atari?

My neighbour game me this today, says it has been in her attic for 30 years. Ds14 will love it if we can get it working. He likes retro gaming.

So the box has the console, power cable and a handful of 'educational' games called things like "gcse revision fun".

I'm guessing I need a monitor or cable to connect to a tv (if it's capable of connecting to a 21st century tv)

Then I need a couple of more fun games, and maybe a mouse? There's a picture of a mouse on the box but it's missing

I have no idea what I'm looking for and would appreciate any help.

I don't know if it even works. I guess I need a cable or monitor then turn it on and see what happens?

I've lifted it out of the box and looked at it but I can't really explore it much more now until my next day off work when ds is at school.

Can anyone help me? Thank you so much.

Your best bet would be to look it up on YouTube. I still have a boxed commodore 64 I got in the 80's and even though I played that thing every day for years I couldn't tell you now how to to get it up and running! We used to play with joysticks rather than a mouse, you'll probably need some sort of adaptor to link it up to today's TV's and monitors. Look for a retro gaming or Atari forum or FB group you could ask for advice, probably your best bet
