Has anyone else ordered this? It comes out on 20 March.

Salad666 · 14/03/2025 14:08

I preordered this on the date it was announced (16/05/2024) . I was on holiday somewhere in Asia at the time but I made sure I had access to the internet and a stable enough connection to be able to preorder because I am a huge fan of the AC games (although very much missing the Ezio games and the way the game was pre Origins).

2(?) postponements later, I'm less excited. Not helped by the fact influencers with given very very early access (alot earlier than usual imo) and the fact these people will get the game for free.

Of the last 3 games Valhalla was my favourite. I do enjoy the RPG element but much preferred Mirage because it was very much like the older games.

I haven't watched or read anything about the game aside from the original announce trailer last year because I hate games being ruined for me when I plan to buy them! I love Japan, I'm happy you can pet dogs and I'm counting down the days.

My pre order starts processing on the 16th so I'm hoping I actually get it a few days earlier than the 20th but we'll see!

Anyway, sorry for the essay.

TLDR: Yes, I have pre ordered it.

CruCru · 14/03/2025 17:08

Excellent! I loved Valhalla too - partly because I know a lot of the places that Eivor goes to.

OP posts:
Salad666 · 14/03/2025 22:00

Oh I am so jealous! I definitely want to visit Eivor locations (aswell as an Ezio Pilgrimage)!

I really hope Shadows is just as good as Valhalla, I have high hopes but low expectations! Will come back after playing it next week to see how you're enjoying it and share my thoughts 😊.

burnoutbabe · 14/03/2025 23:24

Nope as it would be £70 for my Xbox s. I shall wait for it to drop in price. I have also got gane pass for 2 months and really need to finish faves I started in that (immortals fenxy rising which is quite ac ish)

I went back last summer and finished odyssey and all the dlc plus Valhalla -that one is never ending, I preferred mirage really as nice and compact!

BadLad · 15/03/2025 01:36

I like these games, but it doesn't take long before they can be bought much more cheaply than their initial price. So I'm waiting for now.

CompSc4542 · 15/03/2025 02:30

As with all ubisoft games (most games in general) , I will buy once the complete edition is out with the game patched up and all dlc out... Which will half price too (or cheaper too).

I just brought the star wars outlaws season pass for £12... Down from £32 this weekend... It pays to wait... But if you have FOMO... Then have at it... It looks great.

CruCru · 15/03/2025 07:46

I do see what you mean about the price. But it took so long to complete Valhalla that the cost per hour wasn’t all that much. I think there’s an extra mission if you pre order it.

OP posts:
burnoutbabe · 15/03/2025 08:20

It’s more that I can’t even sell it on (as I have it on digital). I get everything a year later now. Heck I was staking Alan wake 2 for price drops for a year!
so far this year I have played
Indiana jones
botany manor
callisto protocol
still wakes the deep
big kittt little city
replay -shadow of the tomb raider
plus in progress
power wash simulator
immortals fenxy rising
curse golden idol
(have played on my Xbox every day bar 2 for last 2 months)
so I am not missing out on any gaming :)
I track games too in a price tracker app so get alerted when they drop in price. One app for Xbox and one for PlayStation.

CruCru · 15/03/2025 08:22

Have you played Alan Wake 2? I heard interesting things about it

OP posts:
Picklepower · 15/03/2025 08:24

I'm still on Valhalla, I get the feeling I'm nearly finished though. I have the harry potter game ready to go after Valhalla so I think I'll wait before buying shadows

Can I ask if anyone enjoyed origins? I bought it and played a few hour but just couldn't get in to it.

burnoutbabe · 15/03/2025 08:35

I loved Alan wake 2 -I got my 100% on it and dlc over Xmas. It’s bonkers though at times. The music is amazing! And the dlc is very meta -you play as Shawn Aston filming his bits for Alan wake at tines!

I also finished origins recently -having been stuck on a boat mission for a year. I enjoyed the setting very much for that one. Done everything bar 100%int every region. Story wise I preferred odyssey much more. Valhalla I just gave fishing and mysteries to go plus level 6ing my village. But really I am done and should delete it. Free up the space!

Honestly I was gutted of the change of style but i did enjoy it. I don't think of it as an AC game though and tried to sperate them as I played it IYSWIM? So maybe that's why? I don't understand why people say that's the best game out of all of them though.

I loved AW2! I did prefer the first one but the music in the 2nd is just perfect.

burnoutbabe · 15/03/2025 09:50

Aw2 was only pipped to being by gane of the year by having played god of war ragnarok just before which I loved so much (I know I am late to this series). I was gutted when that ended. I adored the talking head. I cried at times. Ah I miss that game! I may rebuy and replay sometime.

or redo Hogwarts legacy. Good thing I am semi retired!

burnoutbabe · 15/03/2025 09:57

And what I do love about Ubisoft ganes is that the actually email me about how I am doing in the game! I got an email from Zeus the other day thanking me for helping him (immortals). So easy for a game conpavy to do but no one but Ubisoft appears to do it (yes I am also signed up to Ubisoft connect to allow it to track me)

CruCru · 15/03/2025 12:51

I think that Alan Wake 2 was one of the games that Naughty Dog (the makers of the Last of Us) said were brilliant. It’s really good when game makers suggest games that are not their own.

OP posts:
CruCru · 15/03/2025 12:54

Is it similar in style to the Last of Us / Assassins Creed? I was told that Elden Ring was great then couldn’t get on with it. I think that I need some chat from the characters to get motivated. I also don’t like it when you get to choose your character’s abilities / appearance at the beginning.

OP posts:
Salad666 · 15/03/2025 13:03

I'd say it's similar to TLOU in terms of it being story driven and not open world. You've got clear objectives and character chatter along the way.

I think if you're unsure maybe have a look at some YouTube LetsPlay videos and see if it's something you'd enjoy (I highly recommend Christopher Odd if you do this!).

Speaking of TLOU I am desperate for a new Uncharted game - I know the Nathan story ended but it'd be cool to play as his daughter as that was hinted at at the end of 4. I just think ND are more focused on TLOU because that's been the most popular and obviously with the show it's made it even more popular but it'd be nice to see a new UC!

I also love that they praised AW2 because as you say it's very rare that happens in any industry really because it's so so competitive.

CruCru · 15/03/2025 13:54

Ah, good to know - thanks for the recommendation! I’ll check out YouTube.

NaughtyDog are releasing a new game next year (Intergalactic: the Heretic Prophet). People keep asking them to make TLOU3 but I don’t know if they will. Their instagram was awful - at one point it was half filled with WHERE IS TLOU3?!?!?! and half filled with stuff about Palestine (because Neil Druckmann is Israeli). I watched the documentary about the making of TLOU2 and it looks like making it was really hard - the release was delayed because of coronavirus and they got a load of death threats. Someone hacked their server and released a load of footage of the game. At one point they were wondering if the studio would go under.

I have played the most recent Uncharted games. ND are good at making interesting female characters, this doesn’t happen enough in games.

Zireael · 15/03/2025 14:29

Just popping in to say I loved the earlier AC games, my favourite being Black Flag and then the three with Ezio.
I have not been able to get into the ones set in Eqypt and Greece at all

CruCru · 15/03/2025 16:35

I loved the sea shanties in Black Flag.

OP posts:
Salad666 · 15/03/2025 17:20

I have the sea shanties on my phone and listening to them gives me all the nostalgia.

Honestly nothing will ever beat the Ezio games imo. Even AC3 even though people hate that one. The climbing was awful and when he would back eject off buildings it drove me insane but I love those games.

I think partly because of the present day story and I think that's why I loved Valhalla as much as I did. We got Sean and Rebecca back plus a sort of Desmond cameo. I hope there more S&R in Shadows but I'm not counting on it unfortunately.

CruCru · 18/03/2025 12:41

Okay I’ve just got my Alan Wake 2 / Alan Wake remastered through the post. It’s in the PS5 but it won’t be ready before I need to go and do some errands.

It’s called XB deals.
