Ps4 recommendations for 5 & 6 yos

Hi all

My 5 and 6yos were given a hand me down ps4 from their uncle for Christmas. We're really struggling to find games suitable for them as dh and I aren't really gamers so aren't aware of what's out there. We bought them paw patrol world, which they completed in one day. We also bought the Sega mega drive classics collection, mostly for our own nostalgia as we both had mega drives as children, but the kids found the games too hard/scary and didn't like that their characters kept dying

Any recommendations for this age group would be really appreciated. They need to be 2 player so they can both play at the same time and they really liked the cooperative element of paw patrol world so anything similar would go down well

Just Dance (they have a kids mode with easier dances)- you'll need the PS4 'move' controllers but these can be bought for reasonable prices on places like facebook market place or Cex

Buy Nick Jr. Party Adventure PS4 Game | PS4 games | Argos

Buy Bluey: The Videogame PS4 Game | PS4 games | Argos

Sonic games, Nickelodeon kart racers, Minecraft. There are also lots of lego games you can get. Spyro and crash bandicoot and skylanders. If you go on eBay you can pick up many of them very cheaply

Crash team racing 100%

My DC is 9 now but has been playing a basic karting game for a couple of years now that I think would be suitable - it can be played alone or together. I think it’s Nickelodeon Kart Racers. No violence- DH plays it with him!

Lego world, Minecraft, lego 2k drive are family friendly

If you have a CEX (computer exchange) in your local town they do second hand computer games for a few quid (or less) each. And you can usually play PS3/2 games on a PS4 too.

Rayman and Crash Bandicoot are fun sort of platform games suitable for under 10s. I'd go for PS2 versions as the graphics are simpler and tasks / controls needed are simpler than the PS4 version

Lego games are all co-op (can play together) and offline only (no chance of creeps)

there’s so many of them that I’d actually start there.

they also have multiple play through options. So you play the story once and it unlocks new characters to play through a second time

CEX will sell them pretty cheaply.

sonic racing is a good alternative to Mario kart for PlayStation

Minecraft is a good one. Set to creative mode for lower frustration. You’ll probably need to help them until they figure it out.

crash bandicoot games are 5+ iirc

give it time and those ‘hard’ games will be completed 🤣

There is a PS app that you can download games on, I've just checked and you can filter to PS4 only games. There are some that are super cheap, and they have an icon (when you click on them) that tells you the suitable age.

Wow, thanks all, so many great suggestions. We tried sonic and they really struggled to control sonic, so I think they need to get a bit better with the controllers before we try again. We do have a cex and I went and had a look but tbh just felt totally lost and overwhelmed as had no idea what I was looking for but will go back with these suggestions in mind

I'll definitely get some Lego games, they sound perfect for them
