New or Used (Special Edition) Switch OLED?

We’re getting our son a Nintendo Switch OLED for Christmas. We’ve all seen and love the Splatoon 3 Limited Edition but can only find it second hand now (aprx £240) or we can get a new standard colour one with game for aprx £295.

Im torn on what to do, the mum in me says but new as it comes with warranty, can insure it etc etc… but the special edition one just looks so fantastic and I reckon it’s one of those where in 20+ years he’d love the fact he had a limited edition one (assuming he saves it like we did with our Wii 😂)

What would you do?

A new switch console is due to be announced any day now, and prices usually drop after it's announced so I'd hold off on buying one for now.

I'm not sure when the new console is out but it should affect the price of the current model, they've also just come to the end of the 2 year updates for Splatoon 3 and it's thought that the new Switch may have Splatoon 4.

I personally wouldn't buy the limited edition one but only because I'm not interested in things like that, how much would a 2nd hand non special edition one be?
