Nintendo switch games recommendation.

Recently got a nintendo switch. Got ring fit and brain training but looking for some more recomendations. I don't really want to spend a lot as I'm not an obsessive gamer. Things I like are quizzes, brain training. Hidden objects, crosswords. Sudoku. I've tried a few cheap games but a lot are rubbish, so are any free or cheap games worth it or do I need to pay a decent amount?

There's not really that much like that on Switch.

Animal Crossing? Easy, no stress, 15 minutes a day kind of game once you get started.

Stardew Valley, similar. My 60 year old mum is super into it. A calm farming game, people to befriend, you can fight in the mines but it's totally optional. A game where you can choose what to do and are never penalised. You play a "day" at a time which lasts around 20 minutes, so good for dropping in and out.

Not sure if the Professor Layton series is on switch? They have a plot, but are based around puzzles. Everything from jigsaws to maths puzzles to logic. Wonderful, slow-paced, calm games.

Animal crossing is brilliant for passing the time and i find it relaxing 😌

Professor Layton and Captain Toad are exactly what you are looking for.

Warioware is a fun collection of mini games too.

Another vote for animal crossing!

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm suprised there isn't more puzzles etc on the switch. I don't think anim lal 0crossing is for me, I don't need to relax. I was hoping for games to challenge me, was also hoping for a Spanish learning course but they don't have that either.

As other PPs say, there aren't too many like you want - ultimately the Switch is a Nintendo console & therefore has lots of similar games as on other Nintendo devices.
There are lots of games that contain puzzles - but they are only part of the game - such as Zelda Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom - you complete puzzles in shrines to collect orbs to gain health/stamina. Or strategy games, things like Overcooked where you need to work out the most efficient way etc.
There are some old school games like Tetris too, some game collections & things like Snipperclips.

Looks like it's going to be sold then. I naively thought it would have lots of games from all genres.

Professor Layton is awesome and rammed full of puzzles.

Captain Toad is a brilliant transitional game - looks like a 3D platformer but is absolutely a puzzle game. Plenty of time to think about how to complete tasks and solve puzzles rather than twitch gaming.

Pikmin is a fun strategy game too.

Where is the best place to buy games? On the nintendo shop or buy the game card? Or should I be looking at used?

You may be able to download demos of some games from the eStore. Try before you buy where you can as games are expensive.

I prefer to buy physical cartridges (even though it's more crap to have around the house) because I can at least sell them on or trade them in.

For a casual gamer, second hand cartridges are usually fine, but buy new if the price difference is small (some shops only knock off a couple of pounds from second hand cartridges). New cartridges do sometimes have bonus content that can't be transferred to other consoles, but this is rare.
