£500 for gaming PC

My nearly 13 year old son has saved up £500 to buy a gaming PC. Problem is my husband and I have absolutely no knowledge around PCs and gaming so no idea what he should get. For those who know about gaming and PCs if you had £500 what would you get? Thanks for any advice.

For that money, I'd probably have a look at XUM.
You can probably get one for about £300 if you look around and then he has some left over for the monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.

It won't be the best or fastest Gaming PC but it should do the job for a beginner.
