Which version of X Box Forza game will work

My DC has an X Box One X and wants Forza Motorsports 8 for Christmas. I am not convinced that it will play on his console, after Googling, because his is not a Series X but a One X. I am further confused by references to game pass which may make a difference. Can anyone please guide me? I feel like an absolute dinosaur and am very sorry for all the years I rolled my eyes at my own parents for their lack of knowledge (and that was back when there was no internet to rely on!). That will teach me.

It does look like Forza Motorsports 8 will only be playable on the latest generation of XBoxes, so not on the XBox One types unfortunately.

Game Pass is an optional subscription service which gives access to, in effect, a library of games playable on XBoxes but to play them the console will have to be compatible with the game, so it won’t be possible to play a game only made for the Series X Xboxes on the Series One X XBoxes.

The naming of these consoles is ridiculously confusing and I only know this stuff courtesy of my DC.

Oh, I am an old codger too! I remember being stunned that these contraptions cost so much money yet one still had to provide a separate TV screen to actually play them.
