Xbox setting to stop child playing when not signed in....

My child has an Xbox time allowance of an hour and a half and on a school night. He's 10. Is that enough/too much? Not my main question, but while I'm here!!!

Main question... he has realised he can play certain games at any time for unlimited time if he doesn't sign in to his account.
I think there is a way to force him to sign in but I can't find it or suss it out.

can anyone help please? He has an Xbox one, if that's relevant.

Time sounds fine to me. I think my dc's accounts sign in automatically. Is it like a guest user? I'm sure you can turn that off somehow. Hope someone more knowledgeable come along

Do you have the Microsoft family safety app? That's how we control DS's time although DH does it so I don't know the details.

@treesandweeds do you still need help with this? I'm an Xbox One gamer so can have look at my settings

Yes please! I'm can't figure it out! I have the Xbox family app to n my phone so I can control it if he is signed in but if he signs out he can still play!

Don't know if this helps but if your broadband is with virgin media you can download their app and temporarily pause any devices accessing it until you choose to restart it. I used to use it to pause all of my child's electronics when I went to sleep so I knew there was zero chance of nonsense!

Ok no worries, I'm not going to have chance until Sunday evening to have a search through the menu options on my Xbox, but I'm sure it can be sorted.

A quick Google found this article -
answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/how-do-i-prevent-use-of-my-xbox-by-anyone-not/637b22b5-4821-486d-a37c-67901cd47540

It's from 2019, but one of the solutions to your same problem is:
'Open the console settings, while you're signed in with your parent account.
There is a setting for "Signed out content restrictions", where you can prevent anyone from playing without being signed in, or prevent creating or downloading new accounts.
This will lock down your Xbox, so your kids "have to" use their own time restricted accounts properly.'

I can check where exactly in the settings menu this is on Sunday evening for you if you can't find it
