I’ve got my son an x box s series as his main Christmas present but could someone please give me some advice on how the remotes work please?!
I know you can use batteries but are the remotes chargeable so you don’t have to use batteries?
I’m not sure if it’s better to buy some rechargeable batteries and a charger to go with it or if I need to buy something else?

It takes AA batteries, not sure how many. A rechargable battery pack can be bought, or I assume rechargable AAs will work.

It can also be connected to the console by USB cable (should come with one) in which case batteries are not required.
