3DS or move on to Switch

We seem to have lots of outdated tech in our house (Xbox1, PS4, Wii, 3DS, PSVita). Oldest is happy with his Xbox one for the time being, mainly Minecraft & Roblox.

LO is just 4 but has just discovered the 3DS and PSVita. I've just bought Mario Kart for the 3DS.

I'm thinking it would be good to play Mario Kart and other games together with him. I'm aware the Switch is probably due an upgrade as its been out a few years.

Options)
A, Invest in the Switch now.
B, Get another 3DS second hand and not get too stressed if LO breaks it
C, Get some kid games second hand for the old Wii

B&C would probably both mean upgrading to the Switch in a couple of years.

The new Switch is coming out in October but not that much has changed, slightly bigger screen, slightly better sound and a larger stand, but not huge changes. My kids have Switches and love them. It's also fun to play as a family on the TV or play individually when they want. They are pretty robust too but we have replaced the joycons.

I thought it was next year before the new switch - mmmm!
That certainly gives me something else to think about, takes out the idea of big money on something that's about to be updated.
Just leaves me with the doubts is it too big for a just 5 yo to use as a hand held and the cost off it 🤔

My 5 year old loves the Switch, it's definitely not too big, get the normal one though not the lite because it's nice to play it on the TV too.
My daughters favourite games are Kirby, Rayman, Splatoon 2, Animal Crossing and Mario Odyssey.
They regularly have offers on so don't pay full price for any of them, they all have offers at some point.
