My 10 yo is interested in financial matters and I am looking for games that deal with money and/or resource mgmt but not Monopoly. These games can be either computer/iPad or board games. Looking for suggestions. Monopoly is way too long for us, even the quick version. I am not a big gamer so I don't know for sure but thought about Sim City. Wonder if anyone has some suggestions TIA

In terms of city building games, my 9 yr old likes Cities:Skylines better than SimCity.

Cities:skylines is good but very open ended and a bit of a slow burner.

There are also a series of older games by Impressions, Pharaoh, Caesar, which I love and still play 20 years after they came out! This is city building in various historical contexts. The advantage of an older game is any old pc should run it.

Two point hospital is another one I’ve played a lot, you build and run hospitals and maintain a budget. The various ailments are very funny.

Board games wise what about Catan, you have to gain and trade resources in order to build roads/ settlements/ cities and you only get a limited number of settlements to use.

Edit: the version of Pharaoh I have is from GOG not Steam, I understand it runs better.

Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic might be another one to look at, it’s about creating and running theme parks, with levels where you’ve got a few game years to achieve goals.

The DC have this on their tablets, but I think it’s also available on Steam.

Bohnanza is quite an interesting one. A card game, simple but tactical. You collect, plant and harvest different types of beans. Some are more unusual and expensive, common ones get less profits.
