Buying a Nintendo Switch

Looking at buying a Nintendo Switch, not a gamer at all, had a wii years ago which we all used loads at first, then we eventually sold it as it wasn't getting used. Seen the ring fit advertised and thought we might use it, me and DH 50's, DD 20. So are they worth it, also nowhere has them in stock, everywhere showing stock arriving in the next week or so, is this it is a new model?

AFAIAA it's not a new model- switches have been consistently sold out since the first lockdown last march, primarily because they appeal to all age groups in a family. Ours is used every day, though we don't have a ring thingy.
They play Just Dance quite a bit, DD does Animal Crossing every day for about half an hour. DS plays Zelda BOTW, and dh plays puzzle type games. I don't have time, but would stick to mario kart and Tetris.

Thank you for that, maybe I'll just order then off amazon.

Am I right in thinking the Mario edition is just a different colour?

Yes, it's just themed, no difference in what the equipment does.
If there are more than two of you, I'd recommend getting another joycon thing, then all of you can play together, and probably a charger too (or you'll have to be good at remembering to charge the other controllers).

MechantGourmet · 04/02/2021 10:17

Sorry, just seen there are three of you.

Exactly the same machine but with the coloured body, joycons and dock plastic part. I have one normal switch and one animal crossing limited edition one and apart from cosmetics - they are exactly the same.

(I really really had wanted the Animal Crossing one and it came back in stock when I had spare cash)

I have a fortnite edition for myself, dh got me one. It's brilliant. currently playing final fantasy 8 on it and fortnite sporadically. I have the ring game but haven't played it yet. It looks good though. Just waiting for the conservatory to go up so we have a bit more space to play.

Don’t buy it on Amazon, it’s more expensive. Curry’s are getting stock in on 12th Feb, I reserved one a couple of weeks ago, maybe they still have some.

I got one back in May for me and my OH to use. We use it quite often and we both play individual games and play others together. I fancied ring fit too but don’t have it. We have Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Just Dance, Donkey Kong and all of them are great games. It’s been a good lockdown purchase considering neither of us are really into gaming.

We got one for Christmas, some extra joycons and a ringfit. Love all of it!

Thank you everone, I had seen that curry's were getting it back in stock.

I bought one for my sons 6th birthday this week but we struggled to get it and had to drive a little way to get it when it popped into stock randomly on smyths website. Everywhere seems to be sold out. He loves it and it's such a good console.

We use it daily. Dc play Mario party, animal crossing, we play Zelda together as it's more challenging for the younger dc. It's great that it can be on the tv one minute then transferred to a handhold console without disrupting the game.
