Theme Hospital, The Sims, Rollercoaster Tycoon?

Hi everyone. All this isolation has got me thinking of games I used to play and love - The Sims 2, Theme Hospital, Airport Tycoon and Rollercoaster Tycoon. I’ve been thinking about buying a laptop for ages - what sort of laptop should I buy that would cope with these sort of games? Also does it need a disk drive or are all those games downloadable now? I’ve only ever played Sims 1 and 2, is Sims 3 better?

I can’t advise about the laptop - I’ve been wondering about that too! - but I definitely enjoyed Sims 3 more than Sims 2. There’s a Sims 4, but I’ve not played that.

Sims 3 is the best version. You have to download a program called origin from its website and can buy the sims and theme hospital to download, they have a sale on the sims at the moment. You will need a decent amount of memory to install and a minimum of 4gb of ram for the game to run

If you're buying sims 3 (I started playing again last week!) download origin but don't buy them through it! You can buy the codes from eBay from £2.30-£20. So much cheaper and works the same, they just generate the codes instead Smile I saves a fortune!

Sims 3 is the best one. But there are lots of mechanics in Sims 4 that makes Sims 3 feel slow and clunky in comparison so it’s difficult to go back: Go straight to Sims 3 and stay there!

You’ll need a bit of a beast to run it. Look at the game specifications and find a laptop that at the very least meets all the minimum requirements.

(I bet you’d also like Planet Zoo so make sure it can run that too!)

Teen DD plays Sims 4 on PC and loves it. I use it too though I like building homes rather than the story play, lol. We have all the expansion packs and stuff packs, etc.

I play Rollercoaster Tycoon on my iPad from time to time.

InFiveMins · 02/04/2020 12:35

I play all those OP. You will need a decent laptop rather than a standard cheap one, otherwise the games will be sluggish, especially sims (and that is the best one!). Buy the best one you can afford.

It’s RCT classic I have for the ipad by the way - there are loads of Rollercoaster Tycoon games that are rammed with in-app purchases but this is a one-off purchase and then play like it’s 2008 or whenever again.

There's a new version of Theme Hospital called Two Point Hospital! I play it on the Switch and it's pretty good!

Most of those games should be downloadable but you'll want a minimum of 4gb to run them well like a pp said. if you can afford something with 8gb that would be even better but 4 should be just fine.

Enjoy!!
