Gaming contract at 15

Hi
Ds is 15 and big into gaming for a while now. Pretty good in school but could apply himself more, which has always been the case. Came yesterday to ask if we'd sign contract for him for team - he was so thrilled to have made the team. Esport is rocket league.

Contract is vague in terms of specifics - should play as many hours as leader asks or risk being fired... Ds says he plays 4 hours per week at the moment but I see info online saying pros play up to 12/day! Anyone got advice? Are they OK if they're sensible?

I found an old thread with exactly this question but no replies. Does that mean nobody has dc who have done this?

My son did it....I wouldn't advise at 15 though unless you want it taking over their life! And though he made money off it you can also lose money I'm not sure of all the in and outs but you say "could apply himself more" at school this won't help. And also it has a shelf life.

Another hopeful bump...

Oh thanks lola - I didn't see your reply. He's very vague about the money thing (or not telling me what he does know). Why do you say shelf life? Is it because a game goes out of fashion? Do they not just turn to the next one when that happens? A bit too clueless here.
