Overwatch - what are your opinions?

Just that really. 12 year old ds has asked for overwatch for Christmas. I’m a bit concerned about it being an online game. Will of course be doing my own research but wanted to know others’ views.

I loved playing overwatch! IMO it’s a child friendly game, has really good story to it that they release on YouTube, and is really fun to play. I never experienced any abuse on it from other players as it is really a team playing game and you have to help each other out. However, that being said, whatever you’re playing it on there’s of course ways to communicate to players outside the game, I’m not sure if there is any way of blocking this but I feel there might be so that’s the only bad thing about going online.

allow him to play it. Its a fun game and my son loves it! Overwatch has very little violence and blood and when it does it cartoony and appropriate. There is no kills in the game instead they are referred as "eliminations". I'd rather have my son playing overwatch and minecraft over fortnite any day.

Thanks Super1976. He’s not allowed to play fortnite. Re overwatch I feel mainly anxious about the fact that it’s online. I’m worried a) that other players will be mean/negative and b) don’t like the thought of random strangers being able to ‘talk’ to him. It’s good to hear of everyone’s positive experiences.

My Ds plays it and he has just turned the volume off on chat, he's won't talk to people he doesn't know when he is gaming. Doesn't seem to be a problem game play wise not to have it.
Added bonus with overwatch is that it's got him back into Lego again, he's requested a few of the overwatch Lego sets for Christmas.
