How do I play Bakugan Battle Planet?

I am trying but I don't get the rules? Is there a simple explanation I can read, watch?
Googling and you tube helped but are really just confusing me and DH. Is there a Mum's guide?

It's a kids collectible figure game based on a cartoon, designed to skim money out of parents... why on earth would you commit to such a horrible Skinner box of a game? Even Pokemon (out today on Switch!) is less unhealthy than this - at least there you buy the game and that's it.
