Help me with Xbox live before I run away

We have a family Xbox with Xbox live. All set up,no problem.

Ds has now got his own xbox for his room.

The idea is that he can play Fortnite in one room and his brother will be playing with him in another room.

But do we need another Xbox live membership?

It would seem that while u can share membership with different users only one Xbox can be using it at a time. Does that sound right?

This stuff really fries my brain.

Yes - I believe that Xbox gold is a personal thing, so you can log onto different machines with one account but not more than one at once. I was playing on our Xbox at home (on OH account as I didn't have one) and he tried to log on at his friends house and couldn't/or it interrupted my game.

Yes, you need a different account with a separate gold membership for them to both play at the same time.

Yep unfortunately you can't use one at the same time on different machines. That would make no sense to Microsofts profits.

He gets his own account now, it's time.

I've got him his own. He's very happy.
The while thing is just not very intuitive to me.
We had one Xbox and 4 of us have accounts on it and all use one Xbox live which is in my name. But now one of us has moved to a separate Xbox it doesn't work for him any more.

Somehow I thought it would be like Spotify or Netflix and you have a family membership and can share with your family but I realise now it's not.

Anyway, my 2 sons are now in separate rooms playing Fortnite together and all is peaceful. At last. It's taken me hours to get it all organised.

I do admire you for sharing, nobody gets on my live account especially if they're playing online. It doesn't take much to get perma banned. I'd cry lots.
