Bought DS a new 2DS XL for Christmas, the console wouldn't recognise the fact that there was a game in the slot and the error message ' there is no game inserted' appeared when clearly there was. I took it back to the shop and they happily replaced it (with a different colour) got back home and DS immediately set the console up and inserted a game cartridge and the same thing has happened with most of his games, this seems to be quite a common occurrence according to what I've now read online and on Nintendo's own website. All Nintendo recommend is to get the console repaired, but it's a brand new console and shouldn't need repairing.
