How to speed up Fortnite updates?

My DS plays Fortnite on his Xbox One. Every Tuesday is hard work when the weekly update comes out and it takes hours to download. He tells me that all his friends can download it in minutes .

I've looked into automatic updates, and although he has the right boxes ticked on the Xbox settings, it doesn't seem to work for Fortnite.

I'm wondering if it's our internet - we have Sky broadband - and the main cable enters the house upstairs in a bedroom, right under a huge double bed, so a nightmare to reach. Does anyone have any ideas if we could improve the download time in an easy way? This is all getting beyond my level of technical know-how. Thanks

Is he at school when the update goes live? If you're at home then you could do what I do and download it for him. (We have PS4 so may be different time)

Don't forget that if you're giving him a new game for Xmas to download all patches before Xmas Day. Some games can have patches that take HOURS.

How big is your house? I have a WiFi booster set up so every corner of the house gets WiFi

I have my console hard wired and have a booster and not on the WiFi which is separate. I also got a new router from my provider last year, plus how often do you reset your router and I do just mean turning it off for a minute and then turning it back on.

How fast is your internet?
