Mine craft and Xbox for 12 yo?

Help! 12yo niece and all she wants is to be able to play Minecraft. The game and console will be living at mine -( as preferred by parents). I have a big tv and internet - what else do I need? Is an Xbox the correct console? (No pc in either house). Does it come as some sort of package? Do It need to be played online? Is this a terrible idea? Help!

we have a PS4 and minecraft. we got the PS4 second hand (but in very good condition) from cex and we got minecraft from there too.

sorry forgot to add, if she wants to play with friends then she will need wifi, but you do not need a pc (as far as i am aware)

minecraft is a perfect game! also xbox is the correct console, you can go to the microsoft store and buy minecraft for it there!

If you have no console at all atm, go to CEx or similar and get an Xbox 360 - it's an old and thus cheap one but plenty of games for it.
Internet helps so can download updates and mods. Doesn't need to be played online - my kids are younger so that's disabled, but they like having 2 play together (so 2 controllers needed).

The game is a lot of fun. I played it with my son and he has so much fun with it.

Minecraft is weird. I asked dd why the sun was square. Her logical answer was "because it's minecraft"

Get an XBox 1, the 360 cannot play Mine craft with other people my son said?????
