What games have you played before?

Me and the DW love Fields of Arle but it's not for causal gamers.

Patchwork
Isle of Trains
Flip City
Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small
Caverna: Cave vs Cave
Terraforming Mars
Ganz Schön Clever
Jaipur
Nusfjord
La Granja: No Siesta
Steam Rollers

I could go on...

We have and play regularly:

Scramble
Exploding kittens
Normal card games
Forbidden Island
Boggle
Monopoly
Cards against humanity with our rule made up for two human players and a cat...

susurration · 07/10/2018 13:42

That should be scrabble not scramble. Sorry.

Chess

Pandemic is playable with two - we usually take on two 'roles' each.

Ticket to ride also good.

Mysterium can be played with two, but I've only ever played with 3 or 4... Might affect playability with only 2.

Patchwork (because I haven't lost a game yet)

Wow so many great ideas! Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the inspiration. I like the look of Cards Against Humanity 😊

CAH is a terrible game.

INeedNewShoes · 12/10/2018 14:36

Ticket to Ride is great and works with 2.

GetOrfMyBin · 12/10/2018 20:37

7 Wonders Dual, Isle of Skye, Lost Cities, Targi, Santa Maria, Alchemists, Splendor, Century Spice Road...

I could keep going on. Not all above are for only two players. We love board games in this house Grin

If you're regular players you want to find something you're closely matched at. For us Trivial Pursuit works great - despite very different areas of knowledge it tends to all even out. Yahtzee's also good (albeit not technically a board game) as is Backgammon, both have enough strategy to be interesting and enough luck that you don't always get the same person winning.

Monopoly takes too long, Risk is lousy for two players, Scrabble always seems to attract slow play.
