Resident Evil 7. Worth a go?

Hey I'm just wondering has anyone played the new Resident Evil game and is it any good? I've played all the games, 2 and 4 being my favourites but the more recent ones I've found less enjoyable and more boring if anything. The last thing I want to do is spend £40+ on a game that I'm not sure about.

My DP is playing biohazard at the moment and it's bloody scary, at £45 from cex I'm hoping it's worth the money. It's making me jump though.
