Does anyone know whether minecraft can be played on a laptop or is a desk top PC required?

Yes, my boys play on my laptop. No problems at our end.

You can, although it depends on the laptop itself. It's a pretty demanding game. DH says absolute bare minimum would be a core 2 processor but that would still be a bit laggy - DD puts up with it when she can't get on the big PC but it's definitely not perfect.

Have so far not let DSs put minecraft on family laptop, but DS2 wants his own laptop or PC for his birthday. Man I'm computer shop recommended a gaming PC but price was from £450 which is lot more than we spend on. Birthday.

Yes but not just any laptop. The laptop has to be up to speed for gamers. If your laptop's hardware (graphics card especially) is up to it, then yes. What laptop do you own?

Sorry about spelling/grammar (phone had autocorrected)

I own an old mac 2008 and I play mine craft on my laptop. It's awesome. So addictive. Don't start playing it.

Haribotangfastic · 05/10/2014 09:11

What laptop would you recommend dorasee?

My ds plays it on his laptop. Dd's laptop isn't good enough to play it on and it lags a lot so she uses the desktop instead

This year, we got our son an Acer Aspire V5-552 laptop. It was a bday present and it's been perfect for Minecraft and other games. It was an affordable laptop, on sale at PC world. And it was the best affordable laptop which supports gaming. Most laptops are not up to the task.

I am sure if you go into PC world they can guide you towards an affordable option. Acer laptops tend to be the best for gaming. We paid about £260 on sale. But it's good to actually go in and have a look at different laptops which support gaming, specifically Minecraft. It's worth having a chat with those guys at PC world rather than buying blind online.
