Nintendo 2ds or 3ds XL

Christmas present for 5 year old ds.

As far as I can see, the differences are, the 3D element, which I'm told many people turn off anyway. The screen size and the sound quality.

The cheapest 3dsxl I can find is £150, that's without any games. It seems that I can get the 2ds for £99 with two free games.

What do you think?

I'd go for 2DS. I think 3DS has been a bit of a flop.
My kids like regular size though not XL.

The obvious advantage of the 3DS is the large screen size. The price difference is pretty big so I would get a 2DS.

if he's just using it at home I'd 100% say a 2DS.

I think you can't fold the 2ds to protect the screen. Which would be an issue for me. I'd get the 3ds xl.

I've gone for the 3 ds but not the Xl version as I found one with mariocart for 160. Dd is 9 though.

For a 5yo I'd say the 2DS as it hasn't got the weak and vulnerable hinge.

Yes it was with Argos, it has finished now, but even by the time I saw it, it was really hard to find the three in stock, I think I found literally one store in my city with stock.

Hopefully there'll be some more good offers out before Christmas.
