Help - how do I get new Wii controller to connect?

I've bought a new controller off ebay which has come without instructions and I can't remember how you get it to talk to the Wii. Can anyone help please? Thanks!

Open the flap on the front of the wii, press the red button, have the battery cover open on the wiimote press the sync button, make sure you have the first wiimote on as well otherwise it will sync to 1 rather then 2
