Want to become veggie but have two young kids

It’s been on my mind for years and now my social media algorithm is stuck on anti-meat messages and also some horrible videos of poor animal welfare. I really feel like want to cut out meet altogether. We’ve been having two meat free days a week but I’m getting so much guilt from when I am eating it. And don’t enjoy meat.

My issue is… two kids 3y and 7y. I don’t necessarily want them to cut out meat completely as 7y was born mega premature and is so small height/weight for age and picky as it is. I don’t want to limit his food even more and he does like meat, and he is my priority. But anyone got ideas on how to feed kids more veggie meals with enough protein for their growth? Or ideas on how can cook meal for myself and for them with easy addition meat for them? Any advice appreciated.

What about more meals that you can vary the protein, for example fajitas, you could do some chicken for them and tofu for you, or a roast dinner with meat for them and you have something vegetarian. What do they like to eat, that's a good starting point for moving away from meat - for example, my daughter loves spag bol so I do some mince but then add a can of lentils and loads of vegetables into it.

Hi op, I’m a single mum, pretty much lifelong vegetarian & my DS eats meat. He’s also autistic and quite rigid with foods. We manage with things like: jacket pot cheese & baked beans, he loves vegetarian sausages with veg & mash, scrambled egg on toast, I do have some different meals to him as he won’t try a veggie curry, but I’m ok with that. He also likes lots of the quorn things, which are helpful.

what I’m trying to say is it might be easier to adapt than you think, what do you normally eat?

I’m a veggie and husband is a meat eater. Admittedly he eats alot of veggie options now however there are some times I’ll make a meal and split it so he gets meat with it.

Sausage and mash, just do veggie sausages and normal.

fajitas, I’ll just do one pan with mushrooms, peppers and onions for me and chicken in another pan for him to add in his wraps.

Bolognese I will do two batches. One real mince and one with Quorn mince or lentils and then freeze the left overs from both batches.
