1 kg miso in a bag -- how to store?

I'm out of white miso and usually buy a multi-pack of jars, but it's cheaper to buy a 1kg bag, which says that it should be kept refrigerated and used within a month or can be frozen. I don't have freezer space for it and won't be able to use that much within 4 weeks. Do any of you have tips for storing miso purchased like this? Or is buying it this way a false economy?

Could you decant into smaller portions and put some in the fridge and some in the freezer?

Thanks for that advice. I think that's what I'll do. It may be that 1kg of miso isn't as much quantity as I'm anticipating. It's just that freezer space is at a premium, but I think I can squeeze it in somewhere (if I remember that it's there!!!).
