Aldi Veganuary frozen range

My Aldi has tonnes of new stock in the freezer for Veganuary. I love the Sourhern Fried Wings and the Scampi and the Fish cake. Has anyone tried anything else that’s good? I want to stock up my freezer with the best stuff. There’s some Chinese and Indian strips I don’t particularly like the look of and some roast joints for a Sunday lunch I haven’t tried.

The Chinese and Indian strips are really nice! Very chunky and flavourful. The crispy shredded beef strips are nice. Wasn’t keen on the battered sausages. Hot and spicy fish burger was ok but not particularly spicy. Meatballs are decent. The battered no chicken balls are ok but only 7 in the pack. Peri chicken and Katsu chicken fillets both good.

I still have the pizza and chip shop curry ready meal to try.

Thank you! Maybe I will give those Indian / Chinese strips a try after all.

Everything in the range I have tried so far is so nice. I will be gutted when it goes.

I agree, the Indian strips are really good! Flavourful and great texture.

We tried the scampi bites yesterday and really liked them, been told the battered sausage is good but we haven't tried it yet.

Battered sausages! Stock up on anything you like because it'll be gone soon

TwoMonthsOff · 15/01/2023 22:06

The no sausage 🐷❤️rolls are lovely. Need double the cooking time it says though

We tried the fish cakes tonight, a little salty for my personal taste, but fine with a pile of peas! We all really liked them, even 4 and 8 year olds.

We really liked the battered sausage, the shredded duck was really good, the lemon fish burger was nice but not amazing.

We've got the battered beef stripes, and the pulled pork in the freezer still to try

The strawberry ice cream cones are good.

Not from the freezer but the beef steaks in the fresh section were very nice.

Not ready meals but in my local they had black pudding that was nice, Boursin vegan cheese spread, and vegan Babybels. Definitely the best supermarket this year for Veganuary 😀

They also had a new pizza that was so floppy it was almost impossible to cook it. Required lots of awkward manoeuvring but tasted decent.

@OohILoveItWhenYouDoItLikeThat
i have a good tip for soggy pizza, heat up a pan on the hob and dry ‘fry’ the base, always works for left over take away and if they are thin enough the top doesn’t even need a reheat, once the base has dried and is crisp just pop in hot oven for a few minutes it really works, I hate wet pale pizza base

Thanks for the tip @TwoMonthsOff, will give it a go. That thing was like Flubber!

I wish I’d read this - I have just been in there and saw the battered sausages NOT🐷(i have never had a battered sausage in my life so I feel I’m missing out) will have to get them next time, I was really impressed with the size of the range in there, they even have the ‘old school’ spicy bean burgers and vegetables burgers with the crispy breadcrumbs on, hard to get spicy bean burgers lately, they also have a range of halloumi in products(inknow not vegan) they really must have the most extensive range of vegan/vegetarian food of any supermarket actually spoiled for choice . Has anyone tried the jackfruit chilli ? I bought some Cornish pasties and some vegetable burgers. I have had the pasties before they are nice but need cooking longer than stated and also need flipping over to cook the base but perhaps that is just me as I hate soggy pasty - I do the same with the sausage rolls which are really good.
any more tips appreciated
thanks

my local aldi got robbed if you can believe that! no veganuary nosh for me. absolutely gutted, the yobs nicked the freezer they were meant to put it all in! Confused

vincettenoir · 06/02/2023 21:50

The freezer!!? Now that’s ambitious! My Aldi still has most of the stuff still there. But I’m not sure which ones they will continue to restock throughout the year.

We really liked the roast chicken joint things. The beef one was quite nice too.
