Hosting a dinner party in a couple of weeks with one vegan and a couple or vegetarian guests. I usually make apple crumble or similar for this group or vegan sticky toffee pudding type things .... now looking for some different ideas please

What about a chocolate mousse? Or a torte, on a biscuit base, served with vegan ice cream?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 10/06/2022 00:16

Chocolate mousse would be great, thank you. Do you have a tried and tested vegan recipe please ?

I'd do something summery, perhaps peach Melba with vegan vanilla ice cream (Swiss Glacé?).
Or maybe café gourmand which is coffee served with a small selection of individual puddings, you could do homemade fruit sorbet, strawberries marinaded in a liqueur, and a small slice of chocolate cake or some almond biscuits for example.

Summer pudding. Bread round the outside of a bowl, fill it with summer fruits then a bread lid. Lovely, serve it with vegan cream.

This looks like a nice recipe. Dreadful site with all the adverts jumping about but the mousse looks good.

Fruit sorbet?

MarmiteCoriander · 10/06/2022 00:55

Pavlova made with aqua fava and elmea vegan double 'cream'? I'm not vegan or veggie, so not sure how well that vegan cream whips, but pavlova and fresh fruit it a light, summer dessert.

Sorbet with a drizzle of booze

I'm not vegan. Regardless, this Vegan Biscoff Cheesecake is one of the nicest desserts I've ever eaten. Check out the great reviews too ...

Strawberries sprinkled with sugar and chopped mint, served with Limoncello shots in chilled glasses.

The last time I did a big vegan dinner I made a simple chocolate tart and it was delicious. I don't think I followed either of these recipes exactly but they definitely inspired it.

Wow so many lovely suggestions, thank you

I'd also go cheesecake. I once had a recipe for coconut milk pannacotta with mango and passionfruit, which was delicious 😋

If i can find the recipe, I'll post it

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 11/06/2022 17:11

@MinnieMinimal I'd love that recipe if it's not too much trouble.

Aqua faba instead of egg whites.

Otherwise known as the weird liquid you drain from cans of chick peas.

No, honestly.

No, honestly.

I can confirm this works. I used whipped coconut cream and tropical fruits in mine.

I've made pavlova with aquafaba on the past. Or should I say tried to, it didn't hold its Pavlova shape so broke it up and used a plant based 'cream', strawberries and raspberry coulis to make a vegan Eton mess, was lovely. Aquafaba meringue is very light

Biscoff cheesecake!! Look up Sophie Bullimore on Instagram, she has amazing vegan dessert recipes. Her biscoff cheesecake has always been a big hit when I make it, even the non-vegans in my family love it x

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 12/06/2022 18:45

That sounds amazing @MamaFoxToBe, thank you

I would do a vegan chocolate torte - I would do a biscuit / cheesecake type base but if you prefer pastry, lots of shop bought pastry is already vegan. Then it is a case of using dark chocolate and plant based cream (the elmlea one is good). You could also do summer pudding as those ingredients are vegan anyway.
