Vegan chocolate treats?

Myself and dh have recently switched to a vegan diet. It is his birthday coming up so I thought I'd make him a vegan chocolates hamper. I am hoping you guys can save me from having to search the shelves by advising me on the best vegan and 'accidentally vegan' chocolate treats out there?

Some of the Aldi Moser Roth chocolate is vegan, you need to check the flavours though, their Oreo type biscuits are too -although I think actual Oreo are vegan anyway.

Gato cookies are vegan but expensive. They are nice.

Montezuma are nice. I didn’t realise they were vegan. I’m not, incidentally.

Nomo are like wax. Horrible.

My husband can’t eat dairy and prefers to substitute for oat milk. He loves Happi oat milk chocolate, which he says tastes the closest thing to normal chocolate. You can buy it online but Tesco have also just stated stocking it.

Buttermilk is the best vegan chocolate I think. They do a Mars bar, crunchie and snickers copy job and they're all great. The nut milk stuff from hotel chocolat is really nice as well.

If you just want a bar of chocolate the wicked bar from tesco is great as well and the galaxy ones are great but a little pricey.

The only brand I really don't like is called moo free, it just doesn't taste of anything so stay clear of that!

Agree stay away from 'moo free' it's handy for kids but not great for adult palettes.
The Lindt hazelnut is lovely, booja booja truffles, vegolino taste like little Nutella triangles. There's a few online vegan supermarkets that make filtering for what you want much easier and probably
More selection than your local shops!

Oh Hotel Chocalat do a big purely vegan box which is incredible!

I came on to say avoid moo free! Bought quite a bit for Easter and I think I’ll have to bin it as no one will eat it 🙁

My top 3 vegan chocolate:

1. Rhythm 108 Swiss M'lk & Hazelnut Truffle Chocolate 100g
2. Ombar Oat M'lk Smooth & Creamy Original 70g
3. Milky Way Magic Stars Dairy Free Chocolate 85g

The worst we have tried (in our opinion):

• Ombar Coco Mylk (overpowering coconut taste)
• H!P Chocolate (which is a shame as their packaging is fully compostable)
• Cadbury plant bar- smooth chocolate
• M&S hazelnut and sea salt- to be fair I only didn't like it as it was too dark for me as I prefer milk chocolate.

I forgot I also liked eating the Love Raw Milk Chocolate bar but Amazon costs £1.80 for 30g which is not good value for money.

My friend makes her own and sells on the internet. Naturally Heavenly Chocolates. The raspberry ones are lush

Hotel chocolate have their Easter sale on at the moment and you can get some good stuff. Their nut milk chocolate is so good!

Booja Booja are special occasion chocolates and are delicious. You could google the ingredients of any plain chocolates to check that there is no dairy in them.

Poundland still have the old Bournville recipe in their shops which don't have the dreaded and unnecessary milk powder in it as well.

Second the pp recommendation for Vegolino. I buy quite a lot of chocolate from The Vegan Kind online, great selection.

We like the Lindt vegan hazelnut too.

I used to make my own from scratch in a chocolate refiner but you can now get decent vegan milk chocolate couverture that you melt and reshape with your favourite fillings. You have to get the hang of tempering chocolate but it's pretty easy using the microwave method and lots of fun. Chocolate Brazils are back on the menu for Christmas!

Sainsburys have brought our their own brand taste the difference vegan milk chocolate which my dairy free daughter loves. So much vegan/dairy free chocolate is dark so it's nice to have a milk one

The Lindt vegan chocolate is my 5th favourite.

Morrisons used to do individually wrapped truffles in a box (hazelnut) they were delicious but not seen them for ages.

Some of the best I've had are from Truffle Pig (online). She does a vegan Toblerone, vegan Mars, vegan Crunchie plus some truffles. Not cheap but easily the best vegan chocolate I've eaten

Monty Bojangles vegan chocolates are amazing. Just be careful because not all their chocolates are vegan.

I recommend Pret chocolate and cherry granola.
