I quit meat & dairy and my period returned

I haven’t had a period since October and was getting tested just yesterday for hormones.

This morning it has completely returned including period pain 😂

I stopped eating meat about three weeks ago but started eating fully plant based only about ten days - is this likely to be the cause or just a coincidence?

Has this happened to anybody else?

I several times had periods stop for up to 11 months during perimenopause. It's not uncommon for this to happen.

I'm an occasional meat eater.

Start eating it again and hopefully they’ll stop again.

Lots of anecdotal evidence that women experience improvement in their periods after giving up meat and dairy. You don't say how old you are - could it be peri? Could you have lost weight - that in itself could improve your hormone balance.

I've never had heavy or painful periods so can't say I've noticed a difference one way or the other.

How are you feeling in general since going plant-based?

PinchOfVom · 04/02/2022 20:22

I am 47

My periods are no trouble at all, no pmt,
regular, light enough - although this one is a bloodbath 🙄

However I am 4 stone overweight and this has come on fairly quickly - not through stuffing my face as such but lots of immobility over the last four years etc after contracting several joint/tendons problems and now arthritis. I am naturally a bon vivant and find it hard to rein myself in when fun is already curtailed. So I did wonder if my periods had stopped because of hormonal reasons. Like too much esteogen in my fat cells.

I feel amazing on Plant based diet - and already my taste buds are really noticing junk but no weight lost yet. Hopefully things will be retuning to normal - I am not psychologically ready to go into meno

@Abra1d1
11 months! Wasn’t that a nightmare emotionally?

@Tlollj
I see them in a positive light! Probably feeling a lot of gratitude!
