Vegan cake recipe for decorating with icing

Hi. I want to bake a vegan cake for my son’s birthday. The ones I have baked previously gave always been soft. Does anyone have a recipe for a sponge cake or chocolate which would keep its shape with royal icing on top. Many thanks
