Christmas morning breakfast

whiteroseredrose · 10/11/2019 09:02

Hi.
We've traditionally had buck fizz with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on Christmas morning. Previously I've had just the eggs (and fizz!).

Any ideas as to what I can have now? I'm not keen on tofu scramble.

What will you all be having? Thanks.

Vegan croissant from Sainsbury’s www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/top-rated-44/la-boulangere-vegan-croissants-x6
French toast www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/vegan_french_toast_68709
Vegan sausages, beans, fried mushrooms, and tomatoes.

I won’t be having all this! I haven’t decided yet!

Vegan DD likes a vegan shakshuka for a special breakfast Smile

AuntGinny · 10/11/2019 18:05

Potato rosti and guacamole
Root veg/ bubble and squeak cakes
Carrot and courgette muffins with peanut butter
Vegan chocolate banana bread

PurpleDaisies · 10/11/2019 18:07

Avocado on toasted focaccia.
Jus rol cinnamon swirls.
Mushrooms on posh bread toasted.

afternoonspray · 10/11/2019 18:49

how about black cherry porridge? Make porridge with oatmilk, a few drops of almond essence and a bowlful of frozen black cherries.
Or banana and raspberry porridge with a dash of vanilla

Or really delicious bread toasted and spread with nut butters?

Waffles with maple syrup and fresh strawberries?

whiteroseredrose · 10/11/2019 18:59

Some great ideas there for future weekend breakfasts.

We might go for the mushrooms on posh toast because it's a similar theme to everyone else.

Where could i get vegan waffles from? DD would be delighted!

Birds eye waffles are vegan.

PurpleDaisies · 10/11/2019 19:15

Oh hang on, you don’t mean that type of waffle. Blush
They’d be horrible with maple syrup and strawberries!

whiteroseredrose · 10/11/2019 20:39

I was wondering @PurpleDaisies !

Yes posh mushrooms on toast with loads of garlic sounds heavenly!

AuntGinny · 10/11/2019 23:41

You can get waffle makers or moulds to make your own.

Ricekrispie22 · 11/11/2019 06:55

If you’re doing mushrooms on posh toast and like chestnuts, then you could spread a thin layer of chestnut purée on the toast before topping with mushrooms.

We're not vegan but make these every year, I prepare them on Christmas Eve and put them somewhere cold overnight then into the oven first thing. Make the icing the night before too and pop it into an icing bag clipped shut so its ready to go too

I will be having lightly mashed avocado on sourdough toast with a big pile of mushrooms fried in ‘butter’ (naturali buttery spread) with lots of black pepper, sea salt flakes and a drizzle of chilli oil.

This is my favourite breakfast and I’ve had it on Christmas morning for maybe the last four or five years, (I had it for breakfast yesterday too 😆)
Before that I used to have a bagel with cream ‘cheese’ and fruit.

HolyGuac · 11/11/2019 08:19

Overnight Cinnamon rolls, you make the dough the day before, just pop in the oven in the morning and the kids and family can help themselves to them as they want.
They are popular in our house when I am doing the Christmas dinner as all the prep and clean up is already done and I don't have to be doing any breakfast meals while prepping Christmas dinner items at the same time.

whiteroseredrose · 11/11/2019 20:09

Some great ideas thank you.

DD loves Cinnamon Rolls. Might make that her job!

The cinnamon roll recipe works really well with mincemeat too.

jess3817 · 17/11/2019 12:12

Have you tried the v-bites smoked salmon? I was a bit sceptical but tried some yesteday omg it really did taste and smell like smoked salmon. Maybe have some on bagels with (vegan) cream cheese?

cricketmum84 · 17/11/2019 18:36

Ooh I hadn't realised the jus rol cinnamon swirls were vegan. They would be a big hit with my family. Think that will be our Christmas breakfast :)

Sjl479 · 19/11/2019 16:00

How have you been making the tofu scramble? It can be really bland but I think it’s delicious if you add sweetcorn, chilli and a good amount of soy sauce. Also better with smoked tofu eg tofoo brand

LaganBubbleCruises · 19/11/2019 21:21

I've just watched a video by Bosh on facebook for a tearing sharing puff pastry christmas tree filled with biscotti and homemade nutella

QueSera · 09/12/2019 17:01

We often use Jus-Roll products for xmas morning or other special breakfasts - pain au chocolat, croissants, cinnamon rolls.

Or sausages (we like the Quorn vegan ones best), hash browns, baked beans, toast.

Just tried a new product - THIS Bacon (bought it at Holland & Barratt) - I've been a vegan a long time and this bacon is an absolute game-changer! Might do bacon rolls this xmas!
