I used to keep porridge pots in my desk drawer but now I'm trying to be vegan i note they all have milk. Has anyone found any vegan instant pots? Thanks

Can't help with porridge pots, sorry. I make up a batch of vegan overnight oats at the weekend, and decant into little pots to take to work. Any use?

mamaduckbone · 23/02/2018 19:30

I’m not at all vegan but have just started making porridge with nut milk and it’s lush! (No help on porridge pots though, sorry.)

Daisydoesnt · 23/02/2018 19:32

How odd! The creaminess from porridge comes from the release of starch from the oats, not from dairy. I always make porridge with just water, never any milk/ dairy. Can you not just make up your own oats? Overnight oats (i.e. soaked overnight and not cooked) just made with apple juice is lovely.

Rude health ones are vegan I believe, as are the Moma ones :)

originaldoozy · 23/02/2018 19:47

Tesco's own brand don't have milk!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/02/2018 19:58

I don;t think the Moma ones are vegan, unless they've changed recently.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/02/2018 20:03

Just checked = some of the Moma ones are vegan.

travailtotravel · 23/02/2018 21:36

Thanks. I'll check out the moma ones. I do make my own overnights with oat milk - delish. Having the pots is about having something portable that's vegan and stackable for missed lunches etc in the desk drawer.

Simply Seedz is dairy free and really good, too. You might need to buy online...

I spotted these the other day. I think they're new. They look vegan but better double check.

Oatly is even nicer

Eeeeek2 · 23/02/2018 21:53

Tesco do a free from porridge pot

thedevilinablackdress · 24/02/2018 10:33

Goodness knows I love Oatly, but it's mainly oats and water? So not sure how it would improve porridge made with water 😁

MrsWhirly · 24/02/2018 10:40

I’ve never been able to find any.

I do two things - either make some in the morning and take in a flask. Or I keep some microwave sachets and small cartons of alpro to make in the work microwave. The mix with hot water ones always contain milk.

thedevilinablackdress · 24/02/2018 10:57

Possibly because microwaving doesn't give time for the oaty creaminess to form, so is replaced by milk.

I think Quaker with golden syrup is vegan but it's not in pots.

LoniceraJaponica · 25/02/2018 10:11

It is vegan so you can use any plant milk to make it with. It requires just 2 minutes in the microwave. I have tried it with water but it tastes thin and metallic. IMO it needs making with milk of some form.

Hi, yes Simplyseedz porridge pots are all vegan approved, great with nut milk, soya milk, juice and good ol water!
