Have you ben to Beaulieu Motor Museum? And where to stay (cheap, one night only) nearby

What the title says, really.

We're catching the ferry from Portsmouth and thought it would be good the break up the journey by leaving early the day before, visitng Beaulieu and staying somewhere nearby.

Any hotel/B&B would need to have secure parking as our car will be fully laden with bikes and all the crap you take along for a two week gîte (get me with the circumflex) holiday in France.

So, DP says a relative of his thought Beaulieu was a bit lame. However DS is an utter petrolhead and I'm happy enough to gawp at shiny cars.

Thoughts please!

We stayed for a free weekend at Marriott Southampton with Tesco clubcard, but you have to stay for 2 nights with that.

My DS's loved Beaulieu. There is loads to do there - indoor areas with sports cars and vintage cars. Monorail outside, James Bond cars, lovely gardens. Really recommend it. You can take a picnic and eat in the grounds.

the house is haunted though

frankie - beaulieu looks right up ds's street (as it were) so I shall ignore the miserable relatives. Will have a look at the Marriott (but don't have a Tesco clubcard - perhaps I should get one). Thank you!

Mitchy - haunting is good. Ds and I are non-believers when it comes to supernatural stuff, so we can amuse ourselves by watching a spooked Mr MarrHePlaysGuitar
