We are driving to Newquay and looking to stop halfway- just for the night. Any suggestions about where half way might be? RAC maps suggest going via Bristol....

Thanks in advance....

Taunton? It takes about 1.5/2 hrs from london to Bristol and about 50 mins from bristol to Taunton. Or Western Supermare for the beach for the kids. That would get you much further along the route than if you stopped at Bristol really.

I wouldn't bother.

I'm at about the half-way point, but I'm not suggesting it's too hideous to stop. Just not worthwhile really imo.

Bristol

Dorset in general

I was going to suggest going along the south and thought Bristol seemed a bit out the way but DH insisted it was quicker M$/M5 than M3/A303 etc.

yes, M4/M5 quicker
