one night stop over with 3yo - Harrogate or Knaresborough?

just me and ds, going to the NE in July and want to break the journey. Harrogate or Knaresborough look sensible - anyone got any recommendations for a nice friendly hotel in the town centre in either please?

Will be travelling up on the A1(M), are both towns pretty easy to drive into / around?

Thanks!

The Hotel du Vin in Harrogate is lovely.

thanks D&S - is it child friendly though? I had a quick look and it seems a bit ££ for a one night stop over with a 3yo. But would stump up for a nice place if I was sure ds would be catered for too (some hotels say they are child friendly and then are hard pressed to offer child portions or some milk warmed up in the morning)

We've stayed here before and it was lovely. They were vvv friendly and nothing was any trouble - including warming milk!

Also if you want somewhere special, this place is great - it's very close to K'boro (and was where we got married ) They're great with kids.

Weblette - Newton House is perfect and I have just booked their last room for the night I need!

Thank you!

I think it is quite child friendly although I haven't stayed there with kids but have stayed there when kids were there (iyswim). It is expensive but it is a lovely place. Not sure about kids portions though. Maybe better for a weekend away with OH.

Glad to be of service.

There's a lovely playpark just over the road next to the swimming pool which your ds will love.

it just gets better and better! and what a nice man at the place - proper northern hospitality and warmth.

I grew up there, my folks still live in the twon so I'm often there with my 4 dcs.

Doh, town not twon!
