Trying to plan some days out for half term and summer hols. Have been to Leeds castle before I had my DCs. It looks great on the web with a playground for tots and art centre. Only down side seems to be you can't take buggies into the castle. My DCs are 12,3 and 22months.

We went in the Easter hols for our second visit, the previous one being in May half term 09 - when you buy tickets they're automatically valid for a year and feel pricey but you can visit as many times as you like. Our children when we visited were 7, 5, 3 and 2 weeks.

There's loads to do there. As well as the castle, there is a maze with a grotto underneath, a mega adventure playground for over 4's (ish), a smaller playground for smaller people, birds of prey, an aviary, art/crafty things, some lovely walks and, over May half term, I think, is jousting - really good fun.

The first time we went in bucketed down and last time it was freezing, but despite lots of activities being outside, we had a great time both visits. Our mob took over 2 hours to look round the castle which we weren't expecting so we were a bit rushed to see everything else. It is a great day out and if you can use the tickets twice - half term and end of summer hols? - you feel like yr getting good value for yr money.

Thanks TRL, it sounds great especially the jousting this half term!
